History of U.R.B.

Rominai Floag Romania has been one of the oldest Eastern European countries where bearings have been manufactured. There have been several developments which culminated into the establishment of our organization targeting world class bearing products. A brief chronology of follows

  • 1949: Rulmentul SA Brasov founded
  • 1953: S.C. Rulmenti S.A. Barlad founded
  • 1974: S.C. Rulmenti Alexandria S.A. founded
  • 1979: Timken Romania founded
  • 1983: Sucheava Enterprises founded
  • 1998: Timken Purchases S.C. Rulmenti Grie S.A.
  • 1998: Koyo Japan purchase S.C. Rulmenti Alexandria S.A. company
  • 2000: Kombassan Turkey Purchase S.C. Rulmenti S.A Barlad.
  • 2004: SNR inaugurates facility in Romania
  • 2005: IMF decides that Brasov must be sold
  • 2006: Koyo announces to intention to discountinue URB production.
  • 2006: NTN takes over SNR worldwide and romanian plant
  • 2007: Rulmentul Brashov shutdown ordered by AVAS
  • 2007: Ulpia Rulmenti Bucuresti founded
  • 2007: Ulpia Rulmenti Bucuresti U.R.B. Trademark Registration completed in            November 2007
  • 2009: Koyo Romania Announced closure of URB Production
  • 2010: January ’10: Overseas Sales Head Office in Bucharest completed
  • 2010: March ‘10: First successful FINAL production completed
  • 2010: Ulpia Rulmenti remains the only Fully Integrated Romanian Bearing            Factory owned and managed by Romanian Management in Romania.
